Smooth-voiced actor often cast in gentleman spy roles, possibly most famous for a series of adverts for Schweppes (...you know who) in the 1980s. He was often the voiceover for The News Quiz on the wireless. He also took over the Peter Jones role of The Book in the Hitchhiker's Guide radio series. He died from prostate cancer in 2006, aged 80.
