Biography
Born 26 August 1954 in Greenwich, London. Got his big break with Radio Luxembourg in the 1970s, and on his Radio 1 show he was de rigeur listening in 6th form common rooms during the early 90s thanks to legendary features such as Voiceover Man, the Car Boot Sale song, and - get this - Radio Tennis. After a short spell on Radio 1 Breakfast, and a few years on commercial radio, Wright shifted down a channel, presenting Steve Wright In The Afternoon on Radio 2 from 1999 until 2022.
He died in February 2024, aged 69.
