Biography

A Londoner by birth, Jim got his "big break" (pun intended) on an appearance on TV talent show New Faces in 1976. During the 1970s and 1980s he starred in his own comedy shows and in sitcoms such as Up The Elephant And Round The Castle and Home James. He regularly performs for army men on active service, most notably during the Falklands War*, and appears in pantomimes - not all of which are suitable for a family audience. (*Rumour has it that he was going to apply for a place on Mastermind with the Falklands as his specialist subject, until he was informed that he needed other subjects for later rounds.)

In 2006, he declared himself bankrupt after the UK tax office refused him extra time to pay off the remainder of an outstanding £1.4million tax bill.

Trivia

He failed the audition for the part of the Artful Dodger in the movie Oliver. He was thirteen at the time.

He appears in the bizarre Peter Greenaway film A Zed and Two Noughts.
