Biography
Actor and classical music buff who gave up a teaching post at RADA to become a regular on Face the Music. He was later a co-founder of Classic FM, undertaking the massive task of rating 50,000 pieces of classical music in order to produce the station's original playlist.
He died in 1998 at the age of 64.
Trivia
His father was the popular comedian Ted Ray and his brother was the actor Andrew Ray.
He was Dudley Moore's understudy in the legendary satirical revue Beyond the Fringe and took Moore's place in the London production when the original cast took the show to New York.
He was married to actress and Magpie presenter Susan Stranks.
