Synopsis
It sounds as if we've been here before with 'participation TV' taking its place within the schedules of supposed major broadcasters but that's not quite the case here.
This overnight revenue-trickler was the first time to our knowledge that any of the non-BBC terrestrial channels had taken to post-midnight televised roulette since OFCOM relaxed guidelines on airing such shows - once the reserve of lower-tier digital stations (and now officially classified as teleshopping).
STV announced a tie-up with London-based NetPlay TV within days of the ruling and...well, that's all you need to know about it, really (except to add that it didn't last beyond a few months and was replaced with a simulcast of Challenge Jackpot's Roulette Nation).
