Biography
Mathematician and Professor for the Public Understanding of Science at Oxford University who has become the media's go-to boffin on matters numerical. When he's not writing the sort of academic papers which make our brains hurt just reading the titles, he can be found presenting TV and radio documentaries, and penning columns in the fashionable newspapers of the day. According to Wikipedia, he also "routinely bends Melvyn Bragg's mind", a selfless act of public service which was no doubt a contributing factor in him being appointed OBE in 2010.
