Biography
DJ most famous for presenting the mid-morning slot on Radio 1 from 1977 to 1993, including the lachrymose true-life love story slot Our Tune (which he later did as a syndicated slot for commercial local radio). During his time there he was also a regular host of Top Of The Pops.
After Radio 1, he had stints on Classic FM, Smooth Radio and Radio Devon, and still does voiceovers for Channel 5 clip shows.
Trivia
He was also the friendly face of the BBFC's film classification system, turning up at the start of pre-recorded videos to explain what "PG" means.
