Bernie Winters
Biography
Stand-up comic who enjoyed huge fame in the 1960s in a double-act with his older brother, Mike. Unfortunately the brothers fell out in the 1970s (partly because Mike disapproved of Bernie's womanising), and Bernie never really hit the same heights of success solo, though he is well-remembered for his choice of sidekick in the early 1980s - a St. Bernard dog called Schnorbitz. Actually, Schnorbitz wasn't his only dog; Winters appeared twice on That's My Dog as the owner of two separate 'mystery' dogs - the contestants had to guess the celebrity owner. Bernie died in 1991 at the age of 58.
