Mulhern's way in to children's TV was through performing magic on the ''Mad Science'' programme, and he still performs live magic on a regular basis; his touring production ''Stephen's Mega Mad Magic Show'' played to over a quarter of a million people. He's also played Danny in the theatre productions of ''Grease'', appeared on ''The Royal Variety Show'' in 1997, and created and produced the Channel 4 magic show ''Freaky''. His non-game shows include the magic formats ''The Quick Trick Show'' and ''Tricky TV'' and the arts and crafts how-to show ''Fingertips'', all now defunct as CITV's budget for the coming year is 56 pence and a shiny button.
