Biography
Born David Pilditch in 1938, David Hamilton's first TV job was writing documentaries for the then-new ATV in 1956. Called up for national service, he worked in the British Forces Broadcasting Service in Germany and on his return took up a post as announcer at Tyne-Tees, before moving moving back to ATV Manchester. He would go on to become a regular announcer and presenter for Thames, and also hosted a show on Radio 2 from 1973 to 1986. Currently presents a syndicated local radio "Million Sellers" (i.e. American hits) show.
Trivia
Hamilton was his mother's maiden name.
