Biography
Born 1969 in Glasgow. First broadcasting job was as newsreader on Radio Scotland in the early 90s, but she became most famous for being the first British newsreader to read the news standing up when she became anchor of Five News in 1997. In 2006, she took over from Sue Lawley as the host of Radio 4's Desert Island Discs, a role she held until 2018, when she was succeeded by Lauren Laverne.
