Biography
Manchester-born presenter who fronted Northern Newscast (Granada's first nightly regional news bulletin) which evolved into Granada Reports, the programme that also brought Anthony H. Wilson, Gordon Burns and Richard Madeley to our attention. He also presented his own feature series called It's Trueman.
He went on to develop a highly successful animation writing career, scripting and narrating numerous Cosgrove Hall cartoons during the 1970s and 80s including classics such as Chorlton and the Wheelies, Jamie and the Magic Torch, Danger Mouse and Count Duckula.
