Born in Leeds in 1974, Moyles joined BBC Radio 1 in 1997, moving from early breakfast to drivetime the next year. Though overlooked for promotion to breakfast in 2000, he succeeded Sara Cox in 2004.
Moyles is a fan of game shows in general; regular features on his radio shows included Viaduct, based on the Two Ronnies' "Answering the Question Before" sketch, and Carpark Catchphrase.
His television work includes a comedy programme for Play UK, and Live With... for Channel 5. Neither programme was re-commissioned.
