Purpose

This list has been compiled for a few reasons:

First, the index is getting so long that it can be difficult to see the wood for the trees. Therefore, some shows may be worthy of highlighting.
It could be useful to shortlist articles that could do with some sort of 'Featured Article' status on which we could concentrate our efforts for pictures, videos etc.
Also, it could come in useful for other uses - e.g. maybe to nominate which shows we could put into a spin-off book or somesuch.

Candidate list

There's something like 150 shows in here. Feel free to delete and add shows as you see appropriate. Some criteria:

Long running shows are definitely IN (with a few exceptions).
Programmes that are very borderline "Are they British game shows or not?" are OUT (e.g. You've Been Framed!, Time Team, Eurovision Song Contest).
Shows that brought something genuinely new to the table, or were early examples of other, are probably IN (e.g. Spy, Late Night Poker, The Villa).
Shows that had three or four series but were highly derivative (e.g. Dog Eat Dog, ) are probably OUT unless otherwise justified.
Shows that people would expect to see in a popular book about game shows are IN (e.g. Lucky Ladders).
General bias towards popular, successful shows. So even though The People Versus is significant, it's probably not quite above the tidemark of notability.
