Biography
Irrepressible/irritating (delete as appropriate) presenter who walked straight out of university into a job with BBC Radio Oxford, but really began his rise to fame/infamy (delete as appropriate) in the early eighties with a Sony Award-winning show on Manchester's Piccadilly Radio. He went on to host the BBC2 music programme The Oxford Road Show before taking up his most famous role as host of TV-am's kids' show Wide Awake Club and its school holiday spinoff, Wacaday. At he peak of his fame he even scored a number one hit (a revival of fifties novelty Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka-Dot Bikini) with his "group" Bombalurina. Faded into the background a bit after TV-am lost its licence in 1992 but still performs live and in panto.
