Biography
Announcer and presenter who was one of the most famous radio voices of his day, with long stints as presenter of Down Your Way and Gardeners' Question Time.
He died suddenly in 1972, just two days before his 64th birthday and one day before he would have recorded the thousandth edition of GQT.
Trivia
He was also the original host of Pick of the Pops - though he only did it for a few weeks before handing it over to the much longer-serving David Jacobs.
