Biography
Long-serving journalist in print (getting his start in the mid-50s on what was then the Manchester Guardian) and on the airwaves. He hosted various current affairs series - and of course the odd game show - but is most remembered for anchoring Radio 4's Today from 1975 to 1993.
He died in 1994 from complications arising from a ruptured appendix.
