Gloria Hunniford
Biography
Gloria Hunniford was born in 1940 in Portadown, County Armagh, and presented UTV's Good Evening Ulster before getting her own show on Radio 2, which ran from 1982 to 1995. On TV, she was been a regular presenter of Songs of Praise and hosted Channel 5's afternoon chat show, Open House. She also hosted an ITV chat show in the 1980's and 90's, "Sunday Sunday" - and she stood in for Terry Wogan on "Wogan" for at least one week in 1991.
Trivia
Gloria Hunniford's daughter was Blue Peter and "This Morning" host Caron Keating, who sadly died of breast cancer in 2004.
Although she never appeared on the programme, Hunniford was regularly referred to in the BBC's popular mid-90's sitcom "The Thin Blue Line" as the object of one policeman's desires.
