The Loser's World Cup

Nick Hancock

BBC Radio Wales, 13 to 27 June 2014 (3 episodes in 1 series)

Eight comics from eight countries that didn't qualify for the 2014 football World Cup battled it out to see who really is the best at being the worst.

Across two semis and a final, comedians told anecdotes about their country. What's your worst song ever? Why is your national animal so rubbish? What pitiful landmarks would a tourist see? Host Nick Hancock was judge and jury, appointing four players to the final and naming a winner.

Somewhat more smutty than we'd expect at Friday teatime, the show had its moments. At times the negative stories made it crushing listening, often the comedians made an interesting diversion.
