Greatest Game Shows

The 100 Most Popular Game Shows
One question you almost certainly haven't been asking yourself is "What are the 100 most popular articles on this site?". Well, tough, because we have and you can see the result of our Greatest Game Shows - it lists stalwarts like The Crystal Maze and Interceptor to surprises such as Kate Thornton's Dishes. Who knew?

Mike Reid

While UKGameshows.com is (even if we say so ourselves) the most comprehensive guide to the genre anywhere on - or off - the web, with over 2100 programmes already in our database it is inevitable that even we're stumped sometimes. So we're asking for your help. A number of our "most wanted" shows are now listed here and a team of volunteers is standing by, waiting to add your contributions to our compendium of game show knowledge. Go on, help us out. It's what Mumsy would want.

Game show news

Bullseye
3 October You can't beat a bit of... Freddie?
ITV have signed Freddie Flintoff to host a Christmas special of Bullseye. If the special does well, then a full series could be commissioned. The original version ran between 1981 and 1995 with Jim Bowen in charge. A revival hosted by Dave Spikey for game show channel Challenge was made in 2006 but wasn't as popular as the original and only ran for one series.

Popmaster
17 September Popmaster TV has series three in-ten-tion (series four, too)
After the success of the second series' extended 16-episode run of Popmaster TV, Channel 4 have commissioned a third and fourth series of the show. Contestant applications are now open. Update 3 October: The two series are nine episodes long, with two Christmas specials also commissioned.

Britain's Got Talent
27 August Britain's Got Four Months of Talent
Next year's series of Britain's Got Talent will begin airing in February rather than its usual April start. The auditions will air on Saturdays as usual but the semi-finals will now air weekly on Saturdays rather than being stripped across a week. This is to fill a huge hole Saturday Night Takeaway has left in the Saturday night winter schedules.

Jimmy Carr
22 August You all laughed with the UK, you ain't laughing now are you?
Amazon Prime Video has announced a UK version of LOL: Last One Laughing with Jimmy Carr as host. The show puts comedians in a locked room and eliminates them if they make each other laugh. More than 20 versions of the show have been made, including an Irish version hosted by Graham Norton. The UK version is planned for release in 2025.

You Bet!
6 August Do you wanna bet on a return?
After the BBC's recent ratings success with Gladiators, ITV have announced a short two episode run of You Bet! with Stephen Mulhern and Holly Willoughby as hosts. The revival will be produced by Rollercoaster Television and will air in the autumn.
