Businessman Reg Grundy established the company in his native Australia in 1959, later expanding it worldwide. It was bought by Pearson International (now FremantleMedia) in 1995 until 2006 when it was merged with Crackerjack Productions to form FremantleMedia Australia. However, the name Grundy still exists in Germany as Grundy Light Entertainment and in Italy as Grundy Productions Italy.
