Celador was founded in 1983 and apart from its game shows is known for making various series with Jasper Carrott (who is also a director of the company).
In March 2006, Celador announced plans to sell off Who Wants to be a Millionaire? in order to concentrate on its radio business. After a short bidding war, Dutch media company 2waytraffic bought the rights to the show, while Celador Productions itself was the subject of a management buyout and now concentrates mostly on producing radio comedy shows.
Celador Productions was renamed to CPL Productions Ltd in 2009.
