Definition:
Programmes made by STV (Scottish Television).
Scottish Television, the first ITV company outside England, began broadcasting to Central Scotland on 31 August 1957. (Southern Scotland was served by Border Television from 1 September 1961, and Northern Scotland by Grampian Television from 30 September 1961.)
After surviving all the ITV franchise rounds, Scottish Television established the Scottish Media Group (SMG), whose acquisitions included Grampian Television in 1997 and Ginger Productions in 1999. On 30 May 2006, both Scottish Television and Grampian Television were rebranded on-air as STV (the companies legally becoming STV Central Ltd and STV North Ltd respectively). SMG changed its name to STV Group on 1 October 2008, after selling off most of its non-television interests.
