C is for... Cliff-hanger - An outcome that is uncertain up to the very end. In television terms, it usually refers to a delicate position where the game could go either way at the end of an episode, meaning that the audience will have to tune in to the start of the next episode to see the outcome. Cliff-hangers can be used to straddle advertisement breaks too.
